Ok, here goes. Lately I have beared the brunt of Brennon's sickness and that is truly something that wrenches a mother's heart. I hate to take him to the doctor to be poked, prodded, gagged, have blood taken, have urine taken, and given antibiotic shots only to be told that all of that was for naught-and he has something else....something he has to wait out with no meds. I mean is this a classic example of too much preventative medicine? Will the future hold something better for our little ones? I hope so because my son had to endure quite a bit of 'diagnosis'. I look forward to the day when a child will walk into the doctor and immediately be scanned for insurance and i.d. (if we have insurance in the future). Then instead of waiting forever for a nurse...he/she will speak to a virtual nurse about the symptoms and immediately be given a diagnosis after a complete scan of the body. Then if shots or medication is needed-it will be administered on the spot, instead of having to travel to a pharmacy. Then a 'docbot' will come in and double check that everything was done correctly and viola! You are done in about 20 minutes flat. I believe that the future of medicine will be more patient friendly, and much more efficient in the future. It has to be, because it still feels as though we live in the stone ages when it comes to waiting rooms and the like. I mean really, why does it take several hours to make a visit to the doc? Why should we take off half a day of work for something that can be taken care of pretty quickly? And I seriously look forward to the day when we don't have to worry about patient misdiagnoses and mistakes. Did Brennon really need to go through all of that rigamarole only to be told the next day it was something different? Boy, I really see a need to technology to get a hold of our medical system and catapult it into the future.
On a lighter note..I am told we are moving into a newer, smarter house soon. Speaking of technology, I hope that I can manage a household that is smarter than I am. I think I will need some major tutorial after all is said and done...Or I may have Brian install some dumb things on the home in case I need it. I just hope that I'm not home alone one night and accidentally push the 'self-destruct' button. That would really ruin my day:(
